Cargo Services in Saudi Arabia: Dry, Ambient and Chilled Freight Explained
Temperature-controlled cargo in KSA: the difference between dry, ambient and chilled transport, which goods need which class, and how TQM Logistics prices reefer capacity per lane.
Saudi summers put every shipment to the test. A curtain-side trailer crossing the Empty Quarter road in August can reach 60 °C inside, which is fine for steel and cement and ruinous for chocolate, medicine and fresh produce. That is why TQM prices freight in three classes rather than one.
Dry
A standard body with no cooling. General cargo, building materials, packaged goods that tolerate heat, machinery. The lowest rate on every lane.
Ambient
A reefer body running at room temperature — typically 18–25 °C. Cosmetics, confectionery, pharmaceuticals, electronics and paper goods travel ambient so they arrive exactly as they left.
Chilled
A reefer held cold, 2–8 °C, for dairy, fresh food, flowers and temperature-sensitive medical products. Chilled capacity is available on Dyna, Lorry and Trailer, and per pallet on the LTL network.
Choosing the class
Ask what the manufacturer's storage instruction says. 'Store below 25 °C' means ambient; 'keep refrigerated' means chilled; nothing at all means dry. On the booking form the class sits right under the From and To cities, and the quote updates instantly.
