FTL Trucking in Saudi Arabia: Dyna, Lorry or Trailer — Which Full Truck Load Do You Need?
A practical guide to booking full truck load (FTL) transport in Saudi Arabia: when a 5-ton Dyna, a 10-ton Lorry or a 20–30-ton Trailer is the right truck, dry vs ambient vs chilled, and what Riyadh–Jeddah–Dammam lanes cost.
Full Truck Load — FTL — means the whole vehicle is yours. Nothing else is loaded, the truck runs point to point, and your cargo is handled twice: once at your door and once at the consignee's. For pallets in volume, machinery, project cargo or anything time-critical between Saudi cities, it is the fastest and most predictable way to move freight.
TQM Logistics runs FTL every day across the Kingdom's main corridors — Riyadh–Jeddah, Riyadh–Dammam, Jeddah–Dammam, and onward to Madinah, Tabuk, Abha, Jazan, Najran and the north. This guide explains how to pick the truck and the temperature class so you pay for exactly what you need.
Dyna (up to 5 tons)
The Dyna is the workhorse of Saudi city and inter-city freight: a light truck with a box body, usually up to five tons and around 20 cubic metres. It fits into industrial-area gates and residential streets, so it is the right choice for retail replenishment, small manufacturers, exhibition material and anything under six pallets.
- Best for: 1–6 pallets, retail, FMCG, spare parts, exhibitions
- Body: dry box, or reefer (ambient / chilled)
- Typical lane: Riyadh → Jeddah from SAR 1,980 (dry)
Lorry (up to 10 tons)
Between a Dyna and a trailer sits the 10-ton Lorry — a rigid truck with a longer body that carries roughly twice a Dyna's load while still reaching most warehouses without a loading dock. It is the value pick for mid-size consignments where a trailer would run half-empty.
- Best for: 6–12 pallets, distribution to sub-stations, building materials
- Body: dry box or reefer
- Typical lane: Riyadh → Jeddah from SAR 2,280 (dry)
Trailer (20–30 tons)
For full 40-foot loads, heavy industrial cargo and factory-to-warehouse movements the Trailer is the only sensible answer: 20 to 30+ tons on one manifest, one driver, one delivery. Curtain-side trailers load from the sides for palletised freight; box and reefer trailers protect temperature-sensitive goods from Jeddah's summer heat.
- Best for: 18–30 pallets, industrial and project cargo, FMCG line-haul
- Body: curtain-side, dry box, reefer
- Typical lane: Riyadh → Jeddah from SAR 2,520 (dry)
Dry, ambient or chilled?
Dry means a plain body with no temperature control — right for most general cargo. Ambient means a reefer unit held at room temperature, which matters for chocolate, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and electronics crossing the Kingdom in July. Chilled keeps the load cold for fresh food, dairy and produce. On TQM's rate card each class is priced per lane, so the difference is visible before you book.
